Jane's Great Baking Day is an Extended Code Unit 27 more spellings of /ae/ text.

Here's one we've shared before but here it is again for anyone who missed it...

🧁 Backstory of this book...
A few years ago, John used to tutor two of his neighbour, Jane's, children. Jane is a pastry chef, and makes all sorts of delicious cakes and bakes (which she provided John with as a thank you for the tutoring). She even baked John's wedding cake when he got married four years ago! We wrote this book as a fun recognition of her amazing baking and her generous personality πŸ’• Enjoy!

Let's bust some myths about phonics πŸ“šπŸ’‘ Pho Let's bust some myths about phonics πŸ“šπŸ’‘

Phonics alone isn't the entire recipe for literacy, but it's a crucial first ingredient. Phonics advocates are often characterised as believing that phonics is the only tool necessary for literacy. This is just not true. While our focus may be on phonics instruction, we also appreciate the vital role that the skills and knowledge associated with language comprehension play in learning to read and write.

πŸ“š Looking for a fantastic resource to enhance l πŸ“š Looking for a fantastic resource to enhance language development in your EYFS setting? We highly recommend "EYFS: Language of Learning – a handbook to provoke, provide and evaluate language development" by Alex Bedford and Julie Sherrington.

"This book will be the go-to resource for practitioners who want a clear, user-friendly way to develop children's language in the EYFS setting. Inspired by Joan Tough's language development framework, it offers educators a way to understand, plan and sequence high-quality conversations to help develop shared thinking, communication and language. We love the clarity of the writing and the illustrations, and the worked examples bring the approach to life. We can't wait to go into schools that use this approach and see the children thrive!" ― John Walker and Tita Beaven, Sounds-Write
