Principal Nick Hart joined Primary Education Voices on the 4th of November, where he shared his ‘Primary Three’: the first three things you’re passionate about in primary education, and we made the cut!

He said: “If there is a must-have programme adoption, I think it’s got to be Sounds-Write.

“The training programme put on for teachers and leaders is comfortably one of the best that I’ve been through as a teacher and a leader. The way that it’s set up and the level of detail into really understanding what’s happening in children’s minds when they are attempting to read is of such incredible depth.

“Lessons are structured, and the scaffolds that are such a part of the programme, enable children to succeed. It’s so cleverly done that those same scaffolds are forward-facing, so that when children come across bigger concepts and trickier words, they still apply. The transition from phonics to multisyllabic spelling is incredible […] the way that children can use what’s embedded from the earlier part of the programme is cleverly done.

“One of the best professional opportunities I’ve had is working with John [CEO and founder of Sounds-Write] and listening to him talk for an hour about etymology, morphology, phonics, and everything that comes with it. It was such a good opportunity.”
